Parade without meaning: Dontaku in Fukuoka

dontaku 096

Hakata Dontaku is a parade festival of Fukuoka city held during the holiday "Golden Week", 3rd-4th May.

Various goups just walk through the main street without meaning. (But some groups, e.g. army band, police band, fire station band, etc., are well organized.)

A perfect ritual.

I saw Yamaguchi san walking with his friends (as a member of the Indian party in the bigger group "International Dontaku party".)

A pseudo Rikshaw-wala is Mitsui-san, a professional cameraman who travels with this rikshaw all through Japan. http://www.tabisora.com/

Kara-wan is a mascot character of the Karatsu castle, apparently modeled/plagiarized after the famous "Hiko-nyan" of the Hikone castle.

In Kego park "Dontaku charity festival" is going on.

Sunny hot day.
